Field is a series of sample tiles tacked to the wall.  Since each tile is relatively unique in its physical properties (color, texture, opacity, material, pattern, etc) the tiles can be arranged to display a number of relationships with other tiles (similar colors group together, metallic tiles “sink” to the bottom of the arrangement, etc.) and with the space they are placed within.  Since each tile is hung independently the work can be allowed to expand into a larger space or compress into a smaller one, much like a gas does.  The work is re-positioned after each time it is moved, so it never exists exactly the same way twice.
